Community Events

In addition to our church services, Sunday School and public Reading Room, we share the blessings of Christian Science with our community in several ways:
• Public talks – At least once a year, we sponsor a free public talk on Christian Science. On Saturday, Oct. 17, Elise Moore—a Christian Science healer and teacher—spoke on “The Possibilities of Prayer” (in English and in Spanish). (Read about Elise, read her healing blog.) She described how she and others found answers to unemployment and healed earache, a broken arm and cancer through prayer.

• Radio broadcasts – Each Sunday morning, The Christian Science Sentinel Radio Edition features conversations with people whose lives have been changed by the power of God. Tune into KVI 570 AM from 7:30 to 8 a.m. Pacific Time, or listen via the Internet at KVI.com (click on “Listen Live”). Statewide broadcast schedule.
• Renton Chamber of Commerce – Our church and Reading Room are both members of the Renton Chamber of Commerce.
• Renton River Days – Our church is part of Renton’s annual family festival, Renton River Days (an official Seafair event). We enjoyed talking with many people at the 2009 event—July 24-26 in Renton’s Liberty Park. You can see a few of our visitors in the photo at right.
• Community prayer project – Like other communities, Renton faces its share of challenges. We want to share in prayerful and inspired support for this community that we all love. We invite everyone to join us in this effort, as much can be accomplished when many are focused on the same goal. Regardless of your church affiliation (or non-affiliation), we hope you will pray daily about the topic you will find here. The current topic is “The power of prayer.” Better still, we hope you will share the inspiration you gain and suggest topics to be covered in future weeks.
Your sharing can be done by phone messages (425-255-0783), email messages, in person at the Renton Christian Science Reading Room (212 Wells Ave. S.), or by attending one of our services. How exciting it will be for all in our community to come together with inspiration and humble prayer to help Renton thrive and progress in the coming year!
